Spices from Kerala - Reliance

Thursday, October 18, 2007

Reliance Retail which has grand ambitious plans to outsource Dairy from Punjab has zeroed in on Kerala to source Spices. Items that the retailer wants to source are - Pepper, Cardamom, Nutmeg, Turmeric, Dry Ginger and many more items. Why did Reliance choose Kerala ? It is because of the superior quality of these spices.

Kerala accounts for 95% of the best quality pepper that is produced in India. Cardmom and Nutmeg account for 75% and 95% respectively. As far as vanilla is concerned the state's share accounts for 50%.

If you are a farmer in Kerala, then better brace up to meet this giant retailer's demand and become a millionaire :-)
